Hi my name is Gillian and I am a Visiting Teacher in Christchurch.

 

I was born in Kyabram, Victoria, Australia and grew up on an orchard then moved to the city of Geelong (near Melbourne) when I was a teenager. I came to live in Christchurch in 1972.

 

I am married to Nigel and have two married sons and one grandson. Things I love to do are gardening, reading, walking, and looking after my grandson and family get togethers.

 

I have been involved in Early Childhood for many years now. When my children were preschoolers they attended our local Playcentre, and it was there that my passion for working with pre-schoolers began. I started my training with Playcentre and completed my Diploma in ECE at the College of Education. My involvement in ECE has been varied. Supervising with Playcentre, private Nanny work for a family, and opening and managing a community based Pre School for several years.

 

Although Home Based Care is new to me, I’m looking forward to growing in my new role with PAUA and being part of the PAUA team. And I’m excited about working with Educators and children as the PAUA home based education service grows in Christchurch and the South Island.
