Lynelle Laws
I was raised in Sydney, South Auckland and Brisbane in a family who moved about with my father’s Primary Teaching postings. I moved back to NZ with my husband Phil and daughters Kayla and Jewel in 2001, coming from the heat of Northern Queensland to the cold of Rotorua! Phil pastors in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, now in Taupo and Tokoroa, and so we have been privileged to be a part of an ‘extended multicultural family’ these past 10 or more years.
My initial Bachelor’s degree in Education was in English Teaching and I have taught in Secondary Schools, TAFE colleges and been involved in various relief teaching positions. I came to Early Childhood when my third (kiwi) daughter, Jenna, was young and have been teaching in ECE relief, permanent and even daycare centre cooking positions for the past three years. I completed a graduate diploma of Early Childhood Education through the University of Auckland in 2006.
My family and I are thrilled to be working with PAUA in Taupo for a number of reasons. I love little children and am convinced of their ability to learn above and beyond most usual expectations. I love to write, and the reports and learning stories give me great opportunities to express myself, be creative and connect with the children and whanau. Being a part of PAUA means being a part of a caring and supportive family and I am honored to be a part of that ‘something more’ than just education!
