Sarah Infield
Hi, my name is Sarah and I was born and grew up in Taihape.
From an early age I knew that pre-school education was a field that I wanted to work in, so in 2001 I began a three year Bachelors Degree at Massey University in Education in the Early Years. After graduating at the end of 2003, I moved to Taupo and spent just over a year working in a local pre-school with 2-5 year olds, and then two years in a nursery.
In 2008 my partner Joel and I had a new addition to our family – a daughter, Lilah.
I’d never really given much thought into home-based care until it was time to put my own daughter into care. After a difficult few days of returning to work at the centre with my daughter I resigned. I was then introduced to PAUA by my sister Laura, who is also a PAUA Visiting Teacher. The role of a Visiting Teacher really suited my philosophy and also gave me the flexibility to work around my family.
What’s more, Lilah is being cared for in a wonderful home environment where her emotional and individual needs are being met.
I love the reward of being able to be a part of a child’s achievements and milestones, and also having the opportunity to work with Educators to help them encourage and support children to reach their full potential. I am constantly learning new things from both the children and the Educators, which keeps me challenged and on my toes!
